Another HMB star was lit in 2015 in Prague. Pawel Kurzak came to compete in the HMB World Championship Battle of the Nations for the first time in his life! The athlete’s first experience in participating in such scale HMB tournament was not much successful, but the excitement did not go out. And that’s what important!
“It was amazing but also sobering experience. I was coming back from another long competition. Driving from England to Poland, fighting, finally fighting in Prague, Czech Republic. Things that stuck with me was mainly that long, really awful opening ceremony, in armour in the sun, hours of waiting. Former England captain making a spectacle of himself, screaming our “battle cry” and few hours later getting “injured” in the fights 21vs21 fight. We got beaten by almost everyone. Luckily things somewhat changed since then”, Pawel recalls.
Seems like it was really tough competition for the UK team as well as for the Pawel himself, but as a result of this he understood one thing that influenced later life:
“Believe me, my first BotN wasn’t a “fun” experience, but I loved the sport even more and it showed me where I want to be!”
And we all are glad that Pawel still with us and we can enjoy his fantastic fights!
