At the moment, I’m preparing myself for the HMB World Championship Battle of the Nations-2015. I don’t really have a training secret, my training focuses on cardio and strength. Basically, I plan to compete in the “5 vs 5” category, but I would also like to take part in “1 vs 1” instead. It depends on the number of interested teammates who are more experienced than me. But that still has to be decided and, of course, the final decision is to be made by our team captain.
In my humble opinion, the most important skill for a buhurt group battle is an ability to see and know what`s happening on the lists, where are the comrades and opponents, what are they doing and, of course, what can I do. It is a hard skill to train, as you can only gain such skills through experience and time. Besides knowing your teammates strengths, it is important to remember the following – being on the lists, be brave, don’t hesitate, and be careful not to injure any of your opponents intentionally!
When I’m on the lists I feel excitement and, of course, the hits from my opponents during a buhurt group battle. It is always great to win a battle, but as a learning experience I think it is better to lose against a stronger team. I would love to fight against Russia again, as I learned a lot during our two short rounds in Trogir.
My expectations concerning Battle of the Nations-2015 are to meet strong opponents, to have great fights, a great atmosphere and the roar of the audience when we crash into each other!
