Loborec, Croatia: “I have different weapons for different cases…”

30 Mar 2015 16:02

I am planning to assemble a set of armor representing the first part of the 15th century in Croatia. That was a very turbulent time, the country was influenced by different cultures (Italy, Austria, Hungary, Turkey), so I am still looking for the right set to get. Right now I have a combination of Italian and Austrian-style armor.

And, of course, as a fighter I have different weapons for different cases – in the duels I use a long sword made by a Hungarian manufacturer (it is very light and very good), and a short sword by a Polish manufacturer who was recommended by the Polish fighters. We make shields on our own. In group fights I use poleaxes, a lighter one for “5 vs 5” and a heavier one, which is a real destroyer, for larger battles :).
