HMBIA News have prepared series of articles concerning the process of preparation for the “Battle of the Nations”. We decided to ask the organizational committee of the “Battle of the Nations” why exactly is Barcelona, instead of familiar Prague, receiving the tournament.

According to representatives of the committee, the choice was difficult. At first, a couple of cities were discussed, among which were Barcelona, Prague, Florence, Verona, Milan, Budapest and others. However, it is worth noticing, that Championship’s uniqueness consists in that it takes place in various cities. Accordingly, despite such important factors as convenience of logistics, beneficial geographical position and others, the decision was made to move forward in the direction of other locations (cities).

In the interview below, a representative of organizational committee of the Championship of the world in HMB “Battle of the Nations’ told about the criteria, that influenced the choice of the receiving city:
“Firstly, it has to be a big city, that is comfortable to reach – a good transport junction is required – it has to have a big airport, a number of bus and train stations, which would receive the contestants as well as spectators”.

Barcelona – is a beautiful city, lots of tourists, hospitable residents. We believe, that a great festival can be held there, a great Championship of the world “Battle of the Nations”, which would be remembered not only by contestants, but by the tourists and residents of the city as well.

However, Barcelona is not rich with sights or castles of the Medieval period, which would serve as a beautiful, atmospheric background for the tournament. Splendid medieval castles used to decorate every city, in which the previous Championships took place. Organizational committee has also noted, that during the last summit, a decision to place sport as a priority was made. Respectively, such decision widened the choice of the cities, in which the Championship of the world in HMB “Battle of the Nations” could take place.

Barcelona – is a wonderful city indeed, passionate Spaniards will undoubtedly duly appreciate historical medieval battle.
