In our team there is some kind of tradition – fighters have nicknames. I have a shark’s mouth painted on my helm. So, I got a nickname “Sharky”. Fans and the crowd here in the UK find it easy to spot me when I`m fighting. The crowd love it!
I love this name and think it`s pretty good as I`m a runner in buhurts.
The idea to paint a shark’s mouth was mine – it looks mean. And it looks like I have an evil smile. Other fighters have their own nicknames and paintings on their helms. For example “Skeleton” has a skull painted on his helmet. Another one is “Bear”. His helm looks like a bear’s head, and so on. It’s a cool idea for an entertaining part of the fights. Also, it gives an emotional support to fighters, gives identity and inspires fighters who are on the lists. And, of course, it helps the audience to identify who you are and to support a certain fighter.
I think the World Championship in HMB “Battle of the Nations” can use this tradition on the worldwide level. It can be fun :).
