A well-known Dutch HMB tournament “Kening Striid” got an important award – Bastaard Fantasy Award for best entertainment. HMBIA News asked Esther Veldstra – a member of the orgteam of the event toldl our reporter about it. She told us that there were several nominations in this event, such as “Best live act”, “Best festival”, “Best new album” and “Best entertainment”. It was awarded by the visitors of the Medieval and Fantasy festivals in the Netherlands. At the end of the season, people nominated what impressed them most. Then came another round of voting for the best one on the shortlist. The nominee that gets the most votes wins the award. So, it’s really a sign of appreciation from the visitors of the events.

Esther Veldstra:
“They are a little like the Oscars in the Dutch fantasy and medieval scene. We won in the “Best entertainment” nomination. We did not expect it. Not at all. This was the first year we made this tournament, and we expected one of the other nominees to get the award. So, we were very excited and very surprised”.

Let us remind you that on August 19-20, 2017 Tytsjerk held the very first Buhurt Tournament in the Netherlands called “Kening Striid”. The Tournament had a great success with 8 teams and fighters from 7 countries – there were teams from the UK, Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands. Fighters from Italy, France and Poland came too. The level of fighting was high. This event will be traditional for the Netherlands and on August 17-19, 2018 there will be the second edition of this tournament.

HMBIA and our editorial office congratulate Esther Veldstra and Bert Wielstra of the “Kening Striid” tournament and wish them many great events and lots of prestigious awards!
