Engage or not engage? Tactical options. “Man-to-man marking”

– Information for novices:

There is a widespread practice of “appointing” one team’s athletes to certain members of the opposing team in many team sports. It is done to maximize the control. Historical Medieval Battle also uses this technique, but “man-to-man marking” here is not a firm thing and it can be rejected in the course of the fight. Battles in the categories of “5 vs 5″ and “21 vs 21″ are very dynamic, and, like any battle, full of surprises. Therefore, the team should always have a backup plan. I.e., if fighters cannot implement a certain tactics and achieve their aim, they switch to the other one, voiced before the battle. In other words, it means one doesn’t have to run after an appointed opponent within the battle while all other allies are being desperately attacked. If you can engage some other opponent and you are sure of a quick win, then act!
