Paul Smith, Australia: We hope to get more experience

28 May 2014 18:33

The National Team of Australia was formed a few years ago when Kit Houston, a few guys and me decided to take this way.

Full contact, full force combat had already been practiced in Australia on a small scale by a reenactment group “Eslite d’corp,” so it was a natural thing for us to move to HMB.

The last Battle of the Nations held in France was the first one for Australia. We attended the Championship with just 5 fighters. It was a great event which gave us a lot of experience to bring home to our fighters. Since then we have teams being formed all over Australia.

This year we are bringing 8 male and 1 female fighters. We hope to get more experience and get a few victories. In Croatia we will enter the female category and the “5 vs 5” category. Some fighters may enter the “all vs all”. We are bringing the old faces this year and several novices as well. I expect our team to participate at least as well as last year (we reached playoff round), or maybe a little better. We are still a very small team and have much more to learn to move up the ranks and to become a very competitive team.

captain of National team of Australia
