05 Jul 2019 22:33

A weekend to celebrate History in the bucolic city of Maschwitz, in Argentina, a land of the South of the world. It’s Terra Australis Tournament, that takes place at 6, 7 and 8 july, with nominations for Buhurt 5v5 categories, Sword & Shield, Longsword, Sword & Buckler duels and yet Profight.

It’s a full Holiday for medieval fans, who also celebrate Argentina Independence Day (july 9th). But this time, instead of Liniers, Belgrano, San Martín or many other argentinian heroes, it’s time for medieval knights to take place at battlefield and perform another tough tournament in the strongest HMB latin american country.

HMB grows strong in Argentina, with more than 20 clubs registered and around 250 fighters, including men and women, that challenge themselves to rise as the greatest team in South America.

“We hope medieval combat to keep growing in our country and that fighters and marshals may have three days of honest battles and sincere friendship in and outside the lists”, says Marcos Villani, captain of Valherjes HMB club and one of the organizers of Terra Australis.

Those who attend the event will also be able to visit medieval fair, with plenty of local artisans, and share moments with performances and artists interventions.
It’s a celebration of History from many aspects and also three days to realize how big is HMB in Argentina, with lots of fighters and many accredited marshals. For those who like historical content, Argentinian Independence starts at the May Revolution of 1810, with 6 years of hard battles against Spanish Crown, till the 9th of July, followed by a few more years of fights to maintain Independence status.
And for those who enjoy medieval battles, it’s a day not to be missed!
