Scotland’s First Minister Alex Salmond has recently expressed his interest in HMB sport. It was told by Dave McNaughton, a well-known member of the global HMB movement, on the Facebook page of the Scottish Knight League.

– Dave McNaughton, captain of the National Team of Scotland:

“I’ve recently met the First Minister of Scotland, Alex Salmond, and introduced him to the sport, namely historical medieval full contact fighting in armor. Later, I, as a representative of the Scottish Knight League, told him about a HMB club called «Taigh Suntais» and experience of participation in the international tournaments on medieval battles.”

According to McNaughton, the First Minister Salmond became interested in HMB sport, which, in general, is not surprising, as he has a Joint Honours MA in Economics and Medieval History. The minister was also interested in the activities of the Scottish Knight League.

– Dave McNaughton, captain of the National Team of Scotland:

“I explained that we had already represented Scotland at the HMB World Championship “Battle of the Nations.” He asked about our results at the Championship and I told him that we had won three rounds. His response was “You can show better results”! Now the minister is a fan of the sport and will root for us during the next international events. We have orders to take part in tournaments and improve our level.”
